Review highlights
Based on 332 reviewsFai's Cafe 香港仔茶餐廳 is widely appreciated for its authentic Hong Kong-style dishes, generous portions, and reasonable prices, making it a popular spot for both lunch and dinner. Customers often praise the quality and flavor of classic offerings such as cheese baked rice, supreme fried noodles, pork congee, and braised pork belly. The cafe is noted for its efficient service and attractive meal deals, particularly during breakfast hours. While the atmosphere is described as simple and cozy with charming touches like a Lego display, the space is somewhat limited and furnished plainly. Some feedback mentions minor inconsistencies with temperature and cooking methods, but overall the restaurant is recommended for its value and genuine Hong Kong-style dining experience.
Their lunch specials never disappoints. Good value and portion, and food always well cook and delicious. Their cheese baked rice is Get crowded at lunch time so go early
Went on weekend and was crowded even before dinner time. Food was great and first time introducing Hong Kong style food to family. The price is reasonable and worth the drive there
Simple and homely HK cafe. Quick service and good meal deals. Love their HK milk tea with condensed milk - the tea is strong which I prefer. Loved the supreme fried noodles; again simple but tasty. My favourite is their pork congee with century egg. If you come before 11am you can get the breakfast deal which is the best option. The after 11am combo is cheaper but the options and value isn't as good as the dishes are very cheap to make. I like the atmosphere and the Lego wall. Service is good too! It does get really busy so anticipate a wait during peak times on the weekends.
Good Hong Kong style cafe food at reasonable prices. Like the lego display in the shop. (I think it is a nice touch), otherwise the shop is a little tight and the furnishings rather basic. (Expected) Recommended, however, for the food.
Good value for money. Braised Pork belly with preserved veggie is a must and you can’t go wrong with any deep fried dishes. I only hope they would lightly deep dried the eggplants rather then stir fried it directly from the start. Also, the sweet and sour pork’s was lukewarm.
this place is always fully packed especially on the weekends and that is self explanatory the food here is so worth it and authentic. The main thing i get from here is the baked rice especially with their portuguese sauce it just hits different when paired with a thick slice of pork chop highly recommend ! their lunch meal is a steal as well that gives you a free drink, enjoy guys !
My partner had been searching for a good Hong Kong-style restaurant in Melbourne for a while, and this one brought back a lot of childhood memories for him. The flavors were comforting and familiar, just like the meals he grew up with. He said the portions were generous, the prices were fair, and even the presentation matched what he remembered. It was really special to see him reconnect with those long-missed tastes.
